SETI@home's Best Gaussians
Last Updated November 6, 2002

Below is our current list of Gaussian signal candidates. The candidates listed here are Gaussians detected at different times from the same location in the sky. Graphs showing the distributions of these candidates in the sky are available in Newsletter #13. The candidate scoring system is discussed in Newsletter #14, and further details about our candidate criteria are found in Newsletter #12. Related information can also be found in Amir Alexander's article, "SETI@home Takes Stock of Its Most Promising Signals" The Planetary Society. This candidate list is based on preliminary and ongoing analyses, and it's likely these candidates will turn out to be RFI (originating from Earth) once we investigate them further. Soon we hope to report spike, pulse, and triplet candidates.

Note that numerous persistency graphs are used to describe details related to the candidate signals. See our page on how to read a persistency graph and Newsletter #9 for more information on these graphs. Also note that our scoring system for these candidates is a scale between 0 and 1, with lower scores being better (since they're less likely to be due to chance). One final note is that we currently have a graph generation glitch that duplicates Candidates by simply reporting the same matching events in a different order. We're working now to correct that glitch.
